Single image watermarking

Firstly download the program Paint.net from the following link

http://www.download.com/Paint-NET/3000-2192_4-10729480.html?tag=lst-0-1

If the link doesn"t work search the internet for paint.net, it is 100% free to download and use with no limits.

Install the program and run it.

1.  Get ready the photograph that you want to add a watermark to.

2.  Select open

3.  Find your photograph on the drive and open it into the browser.  I have chosen an mp3 player

4. Select the A tool from the menu and then select the layers menu and click add new layer.  You will now be working on a fresh new layer like a clear piece of plastic placed over the picture.  Click on the picture where you want your text to begin and select black from the colours in the bottom left colour selector shown above.

5. Select the font and the font size from the font and sizes at the top, as shown below.  I have selected Ariel as the font and 36 as the size in red, then type your seller name.

6. Now from the effects menu select emboss, it will make the picture go gray like this.  Now select the magic wand tool and click anywhere on the gray.

The magic wand tool will show dotted lines arround the text and edge of the screen, press delete and you will be left with just the text.

Now from the layer menu select layer properties, or press F4

In the layer properties there is a slide bar where you can fade in and out the new layer, this will fade the text as much as you want.

Now all you have to do is save the image.  Select save as from the file menu and give the image a name.  Make sure you select jpeg as the file type so it can be uploaded to ebay.

It is easy to create lots of different proffesional looking watermarks with effects with the layers.  There are lots of functions on this program, you can rotate the text so that it goes diaganolly across the picture, there are endless things you can experiment with and this program is excellent for resizing and changing the files size for ebay photographs.

Batch process watermarking

1. Download and install the program

http://www.download.com/FastStone-Photo-Resizer/3000-2192_4-10349167.html?tag=lst-8

If it is not at this location then search google for FastStone Photo Resizer

2. Open Paint.net and start a new document and type some large text on a white background, use the rectangle tool at the top left to select a rectangle arround the text and then select image/crop to selection.  Make sure the size of the image will fit onto all of the ebay images you want to add the watermark to.

3. Select Save as from the file menu and type in a name.  Make sure you select jpeg as the type underneath, then press ok on the next screen.

4. Now in windows find all the images that you want to add the watermark to and put them in a folder together.  Then find the saved transparant text file and make a note of where it is.

5. Open FastStone photo Resizer, in the right pane it will show a file directory.  Browse to where the folder is of your stored images but don"t open the folder, just highlight it.

6. Underneat the file directory there is a checkbox that says "Use advanced options" check this box and select options.  Go to the watermark tab at the end.

7. Now click watermark image and load the text you made.  There is a transparancy slider, slide this up and down to select the transparancy.  Then press ok

8. In the output folder select a folder where you want your new watermarked files to go and click start.

9.  Now the files in the input list on the right will all have the watermark added to them and the program will list them one by one as they are being added, this is done quick and you can close the program and view your new files.
